I Cannot Live Without Sheldon, Shawn, and Sherlock

Today’s Finish the Sentence Friday is, “I am very passionate about.” Well, there are a lot of gimme’s so I’m not gonna go there, kids, writing, eating….you know, the important stuff.

The thing is, these days I have so little no time to myself that I am seriously jonesing for my TV! Not to mention the fact that we don’t have cable, so I have to find other methods to watch the shows I inevitably miss; as I am performing blogging mother duties.

Since I have no time in this moment either, without further ado, these are the shows I AM SO FREAKIN’ PASSIONATE ABOUT, I CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT. In no particular order, cause that would involve thinking.

  • Psych, USA network if you haven’t seen this show, then you haven’t really laughed.
  • The Big Bang Theory, speaks for itself.
  • Elementary, I have heard mixed reviews from friends on this. Personally I think if Sheldon Cooper were a detective, he would be Sherlock Holmes of Elementary.
  • NCIS, the original, don’t mess with the team. It is the only cop drama you will catch me watching.
  • Castle, now come on people, don’t you see the Remington Steele parallels here? (not so much anymore, but in its early days)
  • The Neighbors, it has come to my attention that many of you have not watched this hilarious comedy on ABC. I hope you will rectify that. Just watch one episode, it is too hard to explain. You’ll thank me later.
  • Fawlty Towers. I know, it’s old….but man, I have seen each episode 100 times and I still laugh out loud.
  • Star Trek Next Generation. I catch old episodes when I can on Netflix. Man I miss that show so much it hurts.
  • Warehouse 13! I can’t stand these long breaks the SyFy Channel takes between seasons. TORTURE!

I’m sure I forgot something. I’m tired and I should be sleeping, but I’d rather watch an episode of Big Bang first, so I really have to run. But Click if you’re curious. AND I know you don’t watch Warehouse 13, if nothing else, click there!

Click on the icon WAY UP THERE ^ and go visit all the peeps who probably put way more thought and time into this.  I love you for getting this far without leaving me! Especially cause that Castle video is huge, and I can’t figure out why!

Go share the love with Ladies who make FTSF a reality! Dawn, Janine, Kate and Stephanie

I’m so tired I could kiss your face for getting this far!

  1. Jen, I am so with you on wanting to watch good TV sometimes. And you picked a few of my favorites, especially The Big Bang Theory. Love me some Sheldon, too!! Thanks so much for linking this up with us and hope you have a wonderful weekend!! 🙂

  2. The only show on your list that I have watched is The Neighbors – my son and I watch it together. Debbie Weaver has come a long way since Square Pegs!

  3. What a coincidence! My hubby and I have heard so many people talk about how much they love Big Bang, that we finally watched our first episode a few days ago. Hilarious! Definitely NOT overrated! Thanks for the fun twist on FTSF, and for linking up!

  4. Fantastic way to FTS(F). I’m totally with you on Big Bang, and though I haven’t got as far as Next Gen yet, I adore Voyager and was delighted to get the box set for Christmas from my dear Husby.

  5. agree with many of the shows mentioned (STNG, Castle) but more to (one of your points), I agree that there is a time and a benefit to simply being on the receiving end of ‘entertainment’.
Not sure if it is absorption or soaking it up or maybe simply resting, but really is important.
Especially with the ‘new diversion’… think about how *not* like sitting in front of the TV is this blogation hobby!
You are the creative element, not the audience. It *is* entertaining and satisfying but it is (also) giving and with everything there is a time for resting… and receiving

    good post

    1. Clark – I actually wanted to write this post while watching “Farpoint Station” but couldn’t. Cause you need to give it your all. ALSO my brain really does need to rest, and I find I am much more productive when my brain gets to laugh at someone else!

  6. I loved Psych in it’s first season! I don’t know why I stopped watching it, it was so funny. And ugh, there’s just something about British comedy. I haven’t seen nearly enough Fawlty Towers, but I intend to. Great post.

  7. Right there with you on watching Big Bang Theory. LOVE that show. Almost as much as The Middle and Modern Family. Sheldon makes that show! And Penny, and Leonard, and Rajesh, and Howie….hehe 🙂

  8. OMG I haven’t seen any of those shows except Star Trek Next Generation. I ❤ Data. And the fact that I'm just now getting around to commenting on FTSF posts says a lot about the last few days here. Sigh.

  9. I love watching TV and I rarely get to see “my” shows anymore. The dvr is so full of stuff that I keep promising myself I’ll watch. In the summer, probably. And as for the Syfy network – they took away Alphas. I will never forgive them for that. I miss Gary.

    1. Miss – I will never forgive them for taking away Eureka! I miss that show so much, but I do love me some Warehouse 13. I try to catch up in bed, with headphones on, watching on my iPad. I am t-minus 11 minutes to doing that now!

  10. HOW THE HELL DID I MISS THIS POST?????

We don’t have cable either. We had our satellite up until last September, when we went from being able to afford it to being extremely poor. My husband is still in withdrawal. I can live without satellite, and I could probably live without the tv too but let’s not discuss that right now…

Solutions? Hulu Plus has helped-I can watch current episodes of most of my favorite shows through my blu-ray player on demand. You have to wait the next day after they air, but for a mom with two kids who can’t be quiet it’s great because I can watch after everyone else goes to bed! Except for CBS shows and I swear that is an f–kin conspiracy!!! Hulu Plus is only $7.99 a month, well worth it.

(Incidentally, I had Netflix but decided it wasn’t worth it…)

Since it doesn’t CBS shows my kids have to be quiet for a half hour a week when Big Bang Theory is on. Usually not a problem for The Professor, who I think is taking notes.

Since we don’t have cable we watch M*A*S*H every night on one of the “alternative” channels you get with your digital signal. We have rabbit ears. If you sit real still it even comes in, except when you’re running the microwave.

My faves: Obviously Big Bang Theory, Star Trek (any and all series, thank you very much), The Middle, Modern Family, and Whitney. I also like Bones, which I have a zillion unwatched episodes that I need to get caught up on. My husband will actually watch The Middle with me, mainly because the dad is just like him and the youngest son on there, Brick, has many of the same mannerisms and tics that The Professor has. Scary…

I’ve just started watching The Neighbors-that is show is so weird that I really like it!

Do I get an award for longest comment??? 😉

    1. Sadder – You get an award for just being you and so much like me! You can watch most CBS shows on CBS’s new iPad/iPhone app now. Do you have one of those? I do Netflix for the Star Trek/fawlty towers/ etc. I do all the network stuff online, cause then it’s free 🙂 I tried hulu plus and didn’t love it. Because I need the kid stuff netflix has for the boo. They have way more kid offerings. Thank you for the awesome comment. You rock my rockerness rocker chick. Live long and prosper.

  11. I don’t own an ipad and don’t get Evil Genius started on that. Grrrrrr… I think The Professor would do well with one, but that’s just me. We have been known to take an old monitor cable and hook it from the laptop to the tv and watch Big Bang Theory that way! The picture isn’t great but oh well, whatcha gonna do?

I’m not totally sold on the Hulu stuff, but for what we watch I think it’s something we can keep for now anyway. I’m sure here in a couple more months all luxuries will be taken away and we’ll live like hobos in a big box.
