Twisted MixTape – The Mulligan or Sheep Festivals, Migraines and Flea Bites

I need to ask your forgiveness. Forgive me for not giving this week’s MixTape everything I could. Well, truthfully I couldn’t. After spending 10 hours travelling and participating in the Wisconsin Sheep and Wool Festival, enduring 95 degree heat (with sheep), getting completely flea-bitten there and coming home to a karaoke party that lasted way into the night, a migraine kicked in and I could not think well enough to create the mixtape I knew was there when I envisioned this topic.

All I ask is you enjoy, no need to comment… but try to give a listen. If to nothing else, the first song is a song you need to hear.

Dougie MacLean – Caledonia

Roxy Music – To turn you on

Stevie Ray Vaughn – Little Wing

Peter Gabriel – Red Rain

Billy Joel – James

Stevie Wonder – You’ve Got it Bad Girl

Del Amitiri – Driving With the Brakes On

I appreciate your patience with me. I know I’m not the only one who has ever wished for a do over on a mixtape, I guess that’s why its great to be the boss AND a head-case. Thanks for taking the time to listen!

Here’s the fun part! The rules of Twisted MixTape are as such: Try and create a 5 song mix based on this week’s theme. This week our theme is Best of Any Band, make a 5 song playlist of your favorite songs from one band and you’re done! Easy Peasy for our Holiday Weekend!

Take it easy, make it flow, remember in your mind you are creating your mixtape for a friend.

Create your own post and link it up, or put your mix in the comments. If you are going to link-up there must be a song – relating to the theme – in your post. And really, if you’re not ready to link up with us, no worries! We love songs in the comments! So bring it!

This week I’m unveiling my new blog Raised on the Radio. I’d love for you to go visit. It’s a place for anyone to share memories of music from when the only way to hear it was on the radio or buying the album. I’m sending out a call to one and all to write a guest post about music. I want regular people, not just wackadoodle music freaks. If you’ve got an idea, let me know!

Please visit your fellow mix-makers, and if you can, comeback every so often to see if anyone new has arrived. Share this all over the place, the more the merrier! And go visit my lovely cohort, without whom I would have never had the guts to make this happen – Kristi at Finding Ninee. She’s always got a song, a funny story and some silly Drawrings. Mostly, just have fun, there’ s no pressure here.

    • It feels like one Stephanie! You know, where the girl calls – leaves a crazy vm – then calls back to clarify but makes it worse – and again – and again – and ultimately tries to break in the house to delete the messages!

  1. Redemption on the very first song. I love that song. I discovered it on a Celtic mix CD. Matt and I were at an Irish pub a few weeks ago and it came on. I started signing the words and he was like, “really, you now even know the music at Irish pubs?!” Such a great tune.

Was not familiar with Roxy Music, but I should be. It smacks of Bowie. And I love Bowie. Plus Brian Eno, duh.

I’m going to end my commenting here, but just know I like all of these entries. You came back with a vengeance.

    • Thanks Melissa! I can’t believe you knew that song! I love it so much, I guess there really is no place for it in American mainstream music, but if there was….
And I can’t believe you don’t know Roxy Music either! You need to go do some digging girl!
