Who is Chewbahoe Anyway?

I’ve been asked to contemplate what my favorite movie is. Truth be told, I am not one of those people who will watch movies over and over and over. That’s my husband. You might make it onto my list as a favorite even if I haven’t watched you in 5 years. I’ve been trying to wrap my brain around this one for days. Helloooo…… Favorite Movie Fairy, where are you? ZAP! *sprinkle*sprinkle* fairy*dust, and VOILA! I have different favorite movies for different occasions. [applause]

Maybe I like to laugh?

For just some good old-fashioned belly laughs there’s Sleeper by Woody Allen and This is Spinal Tap.

Or Remember High School

It’s got it all, laughter, drama, tears and romance. And Jake, who can forget Jake…. Sixteen Candles

Can you call this a Christmas movie?

For some reason this is the movie I must watch when I wrap Christmas Presents: The Wedding Date with Debra Messing and Dermot Mulroney [he is so freaking HOT!] [sorry]

It’s not real sci-fi, but…

And then there’s some twisted Sci-fi: Galaxy Quest with Tim Allen or The Fifth Element with Bruce Willis. What, you were expecting Star Wars or Star Trek?

But what is your favorite movie of all time?

The more I thought about it the more I realized there’s only a few movies I love to watch all of the time, and this is one of them, The Devil Went Down to Georgia by Johnny Cash, Chewbahoe and Johnny and the Devil!:

  1. OMG OMG OMG…he is so adorable! I LOVE how well he remembered the lyric and YES a GREAT song. He sure knows what great music is.

I love Galaxy Quest…I could watch that a few times in a row.

  2. Totally forgot about Sixteen Candles and seriously loved that movie growing up. Not even sure how many times I have seen it, but still makes me laugh every time. thanks Jen as always for linking up with us and seriously hope you have a great weekend now!! 🙂

  3. I loved your favorite all time movie. He does a great Charles Daniels. He knows that song back and forth. Funny. I still have to see Sixteen Candles although I have watched the Breakfast Club and Pretty in Pink, loved Duckey. Thanks for sharing. Will be back to read more.

  4. Remembering High School…I’ve never seen Sixteen Candles, the Breakfast Club OR that one with John Travolta that everyone HAD to see in Junior High…what was it called? I think Lee did it…

Thanks for linking up with #FTSF this week! Hope to see you next week!

  5. Girl. Girl! I said to myself “Self, what are the chances somebody’s gonna pick Spinal Tap? I am probably the only one who would pick that one.” And then you picked it. Solidarity. And then you went and picked a Woody Allen too? Get outta here. Totally sucks that you and I can’t have a regular beer/hangout night. And Galaxy Quest? My husband and boys LOVE that one!

  6. Loved 16 Candles (especially where Molly and Robert are having sex in her car and she tells him to shut up – totally me!). Also loved The Fifth Element! But, I’m a scifi/action addict. 😀

  7. You know what I love about our relationship, Jen? Sometimes we are totally on the same page, and sometimes you pull stuff out and I’m like “what?” Other than Sixteen Candles, I have not seen any of these movies, and a few I’ve never heard of. You have such diverse taste – love that about you!

    • You know what I love about our relationship Dana? You rock. Thank you, and I am glad to turn you on to some awesome movies!

  8. I’m going to sound like such a huge nerd when I say this (okay, then, an even BIGGER nerd than we all already know me to be), but the only movie I love watching over and over again is Titanic. I can’t help it–it sucks me in every time! OH! And Fargo. How could I forget about Fargo? The best!

    • Oh SHAY! YES! Fargo!! Good one. Titanic, sorry…can’t do it. But the boy is obsessed with the Titanic, so we went to the Titanic museum in Tennessee. Man, it was awesome. They were playing the movie soundtrack the whole time, could’ve done without that….but, the museum I totally recommend!

    • Dude. Stephanie. 5th Element, soooo highly underrated, and if you just watched the trailer you would think it was so serious. No one would know it’s essentially a comedy!

    • I always thought Annie Hall was so funny. Some of my favorite movie quotes ever are from it. Then I watched it a couple of months ago and realized when Annie starts to figure out she doesn’t need Alvy anymore it gets kind of sad….
Spinal Tap Classic. I often refer to my dog as blacker than black, she’s so black her black goes up to 11.

  9. Oh, you’re so right. Do you look back through home videos and cry the whole way through? Maybe that’s just me. When baby #2 was about to arrive, my son and I would sit and watch videos of when he was a baby over and over.
And, the standing on the table. Is that a boy thing? My son asks to be put on the kitchen island when we have our dance parties every time.

    • Jean Isaiah wants to be on the table all of the time! Every video I have I think he’s on the table! I don’t cry yet, give me about 5 years 🙂

  10. Toooooo cute!! Now I’m going to be singing The Devil Went Down to Georgia in my head all night LOL. Must say though – I wasn’t aware that Johnny Cash did a version. My brain will be singing the Charlie Daniels version. 😉 [#FTSF]

    • Oh Chris, there is no Johnny Cash version, but my son is obsessed with him. (Actually he did do a duet with Mark O’Conner on his album Heroes that was a called “The Devil Came Back to Georgia”, it’s an awesome album!)

  11. Sixteen Candles! YES! But no Monty Python??? I thought we shared a brain! 😉 Note that I had no Star Trek movies in my list either. I LIKE them, they’re just not my favorites.

I think that your son could be a one man band!

    • Sarah ~ I think my son is a one man band! And I love Monty Python, many of my favorite lines come from Monty Python movies. However I liked the show better. Sorry 😦

  12. You know I love this video. And I’m like a proud mama that it’s a country song. *sniff* As much as you love music, I’m surprised you don’t love movies as much, but Sleeper, Sixteen Candles, Galaxy Quest and Fifth Element are rockin’ choices.

    • Miss – It’s not that I don’t love movies, I just don’t love any one movie enough to watch it over and over and over. And I am happy the boy made you proud…there’s more where that came from!

  13. Oh, my dear God in Heaven! The cuteness! I simply cannot get over the CUTENESS!!!!

I cannot even remember what this post was supposed to be about because I got totally distracted by your adorable boy’s EPIC performance!

    Oh, yeah…movies.

Okay…16 Candles and The Fifth Element…? Awesomesauce.

Your boy, though…? TEN. GAZILLION. TIMES. BETTER!!!

  14. What a great recollection of some epic films! My sister and I just watched the Wedding Date a couple weeks ago. It was one we hadn’t seen in a while and boy does Dermot ever look good in the flick!!
