Head hanging down, soul wracked by the weight of this knowledge. “Who am I?!” She screamed to an empty room. Silent tears poured down CiCi’s face as she stared at a picture of this woman; her mother. Skin glowing, laughing eyes, she clearly loved the person behind the camera.
This was the missing piece. Lu – was the missing piece. The questions brushed under the table by the woman she called Mom. With a gut-wrenching sadness of knowing she could not go back in time, she also felt the release and freedom that comes with finally knowing who you are.
This post was written for 100 word song. A meme where you have 7 days to write something, anything inspired by a specific song in 100 words or less. My story is a continuation of the post from last week. It’s fun to not be in control of where the story will go. I let the song take me where it shall. To read last weeks post, and the first installment of this story click here. I can’t thank Lance at My Blog Can Beat Up Your Blog enough, for pushing this writer to write. If you’d like a push too, all are warmly welcomed!
This week’s 100 Word Song was based on Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good.” Amazing, soul wrenching, powerful music. This woman is music.

excellent crescendo. That last line is so bad ass. Knowing who and what your are is the ultimate superpower.
Good 100. Leeroy is dancing
Thanks Lance! This one pushed me harder than the rest. How do you do justice to a woman who reaches down into your soul like Nina? Hats off to you my friend. I would be lying if I said I didn’t like the pat on the back.
Man, I love when you do these! Music makes such powerful and long lasting connections in our lives, and hell, Nina Simone is the soundtrack for two or three points in mine. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Miss! I love when I do them too 🙂
OMG I absolutely LOVE Nina Simone. Love.Her. LOVE LOVE. I really like your 100 word song too. What a cool thing. Happy Mother’s Day, mama!

Oh I know! And this song is so powerful, it was hard to do it justice!
How many times have I screamed something similar into the open air. A powerful piece here – thanks for sharing it Jen!
Thanks so much Troy! It’s challenging, and I like a challenge!
