I fear I might start to bore you with this intro thing. So I’m not repeating it. If you want to know why I do Twisted Mix-Tape Tuesday you can read about it here. The short version is; I am releasing the soundtrack that is constantly playing in my brain and sharing it with all of you. I don’t always blog about music; I don’t always blog about my son; I don’t always blog about life; but I do always blog about me.
Owl once said,”That the opposite of an introduction, my dear Pooh, is a contradiction.”
As the smartest dude in the Hundred Acre Wood, I am inclined to go with it.
This week’s Mix-Tape is evoked by the title: “Unlikely Lullabies”

For about 4 years I couldn’t sleep without Tangerine Dream playing. This is not about Tangerine Dream.

This list was tough for me, not because I couldn’t think of any songs, but because I could think of so many. I gotta say all of these had some awesome live versions, so if you are so inclined, hop on the tube and look for the live versions of CS&N, Jackson Browne, and a younger James Taylor, you won’t be disappointed.

I never actually played these as lullabies, but I CAN recommend some really awesome lullaby music that won’t make you want to jam a pencil into your eardrum after listening to them 3,000 times.
Sincerely, a preschool teacher who about lost her mind listening to the crap they try to pass off as children’s music these days, so I found my own non annoying crap to play
Metallica as a lullaby, classic! I’m thinking “Here is no Why” would probably wake my son up….Agreed about Pink Floyd. I had almost completely forgotten about The Escape Club, that song seems sad. You are Sadder aren’t you? 😉 I am so happy you shared your list! Believe it or not I do play mine as lullabies, plus 30 or more songs to my boy. The other day I realized that he had subconsciously learned all of the words to the songs I play while he is sleeping. How’s that for creepy????
Sadder…but Wiser… hopefully more wise than sad. 😉 That’s not creepy at all-your mind works in mysterious ways when you sleep you know!

Your story….weep….I also cannot stand that line from Puff! And now that the boy is old enough to sing it! eek!
Although I love all your selections, there is no way I could possibly remember the words to all of them. Instead, I sang Beatles tunes, because those words are indelibly imprinted upon my brain. Okay, well, that and Duran Duran, which can be comforting when sung slowly.
Who said you need to remember the words? It’s called an IPOD. Just hit repeat, rock and you’re golden.
That would require multitasking on my part. And remembering to take the iPod with me.

My lullabies are usually me making up the words to songs, my husband- Pearl Jam, all the time. Luckily, he sings it just like Eddie- mumbling.
Yeah…my husband does the same thing. He used to do this version of Lights by Journey, totally changed the words, recently he asked Isaiah if he remembered that, Isaiah had no idea what he was talking about 🙂
