Concerts and a Guest Post

I wish I had just one awesome memory to share of the summer. But truthfully, we spend two weeks in South Carolina. AWESOME. I get to have fun with my son all summer AWESOME. And I got to go to SIX amazing concerts at Ravinia Festival!

These are the kids playing games while waiting for Lyle Lovett

This is my sister aspiring to be white trash at Steely Dan. Drinking a spleef? Wait… I had to google that, a Split of Champagne.

This is our view, OK it looks crappy, but I took that picture with an iPhone, trust me, its awesome.

This is our view once the sun goes down, its spectacular

Steely Dan played two nights at Ravinia this year my sister and I went both nights. It was amazing. And then there was this:

The piece de-resistance was I got invited to guest post on Midlife Mixtape. She does a series called Still in Rotation, where she asks you to write about an album you have listened to for most of your life. She contacted me shortly before I went to see Steely Dan (which is my favorite band of all time) and of course I figured it was a gimme. I had no idea how hard it would be to write that post. Probably one of the hardest posts ever. How do you put so much emotion and music into words. The post goes live today, and I would be so honored if you would go read it.

  1. Wow, that venue looks amazing for a concert. I love places like that. Dude. You had a really excellent sumer! Seriously! I’m a little bit jealous even. Going to go check out your guest post now. Congratulations!

  2. I had a giggle at your sister aspiring to be white trash. We joke about that frequently over here too. My husband sits on our front porch in the evening with a beer and is forever leaving the empties and caps out there when he comes in. I keep telling him it’s a fine line between “middle class” and “white trash” and them porch props aren’t helping tip the scale the way I’d like…”

As for the post of your kids at Lyle Lovett – we have a big Bluesfest here and I’m SO looking forward to starting to take the kids in a few years like that! It looks like you had a great summer!
